Solaya

A digital home for a Michelin-starred rooftop restaurant

PPHE Hotel Group needed a website for Solaya – Kenny Atkinson’s restaurant on the 25th floor of Art’otel London Hoxton. The brief required a digital presence that matched the sophistication of the physical space while remaining functional and user-friendly.

Interpreting brand guidelines for a premium experience

PPHE provided established brand guidelines that needed careful interpretation for this unique concept. We adapted their framework to suit Solaya’s positioning as a destination dining experience, ensuring the visual language felt premium and cohesive with the overall art’otel brand.

Under the Hood

The JBR site – the base of operations – is created in WordPress. It’s responsive, fast and is bursting with content.

When we say fast, we do mean fast – through Practically’s own static site builder. In this way we convert the, admittedly bulky, WordPress back end into a streamlined beast, providing unbelievable page load speed, and additional security.

Adaptive design built on Divi

We used our preferred Divi stack to create a fully responsive site that works seamlessly across devices. The design prioritises the stunning photography – showcasing both the food and those 360-degree London views – while keeping navigation straightforward for users looking to book or browse menus.

Why we think

This project is sexy

This was a satisfying project because we launched the restaurant with pretty much no content, so the website had to do a lot of heavy lifting in terms of brand and experience. This has dialed back somewhat as we are in a place where, rightly, content is king. We think we have successfully balanced premium aesthetics with practical usability – the site feels sophisticated without being intimidating.

The challenge was giving the photography room to shine while maintaining clear calls-to-action for bookings and enquiries. We’re pleased with how the final result conveys the quality of the experience while remaining accessible and easy to navigate.

Perola

As part of our ongoing work with PPHE we also created a sub area of an existing site, again rebranding and restyling to match a really different brand and style. The Perola Bar lives inside JoiiaXXX restaurant in the Battersea Power Station development.

We delivered:

  • Premium digital presence aligned with PPHE brand guidelines
  • Fully responsive design across all devices
  • Clean, intuitive navigation and booking journey
  • Visual design that showcases the venue and cuisine effectively
